Shirley was a very special cousin to us all. She was always admired for her wisdom, strength and sense of humour. She was a guiding light to our whole family in living a long, productive and interesting life
We will all miss her and her regular posts on Facebook.

Shirley and my father (Girvan Fraser) were high school sweethearts who re-united later in life and spent more than thirty years together. I cannot thank Shirley enough for her loving care of my father, especially during his later years of poor health. She gave so much of herself to everyone she knew and she will be greatly missed by her Fraser family.

It is with deep respect and fond remembrance that we mark the passing of Shirley Greenshields, our most senior resident at The Barriefield. Shirley was a remarkable individual whose wisdom, humour, and grace left an indelible impression on all who had the privilege to know her.
Among the many conversations I shared with Shirley, one moment stands out—a testament to her insight and wit. While we were discussing Canadian politics, I let my sarcasm slip into the conversation. With her trademark sharpness and a twinkle in her eye, Shirley gently reminded me, “Careful, James, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.” It was a perfect Shirley moment: a subtle nudge to elevate the dialogue and see the humour and humanity in life's challenges without descending into cynicism.
Shirley's presence enriched our community. She inspired us to approach life with curiosity, compassion, and a healthy dose of wisdom. We will miss her dearly, but her memory and words of wisdom will continue to resonate in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Shirley. Your light will always shine in The Barriefield.
