Obituary of Norma Miriam Carson

Please share a memory of Norma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With deep sadness the family shares the passing of Norma Miriam Carson of New Glasgow on December 4, 2024. Born in Bathurst, NB on May 22, 1941, she enjoyed a childhood filled with both immediate and extended family, with whom she remained close with through the years. In 1961 while attending a dance at the Gowan Brae Golf Club, Norma met the love of her life, Ben, and they married the following year. Norma shared that it was love at first sight, and their love remained strong through 62 years of marriage. Norma had an immense talent for needlework. The clothes she sewed and sweaters she knit for herself and others were worn with pride, and her intricate cross-stich and needlepoint works remain treasured by her family. A beach lover, for many years Norma enjoyed spending summers on Prince Edward Island and winters in Florida. Along with Ben, she made new friends wherever they discovered new beaches to enjoy. Norma loved to laugh, and to make others laugh, and when she smiled there was often a wink along with it that made everyone feel special. Norma was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and loved sharing stories and photos of her family with cherished friends. Norma’s love of family is carried on through her children, Mark (Wanda) Carson, Paul (Bonnie) Carson and Nancy (Jeff) Johnson, grandchildren Danielle, David, Meghan and Matthew and great-grandchildren Elle, Penelope, Lily and Madelyn, sister Sandra (James) Ward and brother Donald MacIntosh. Norma was predeceased by her husband Ben Carson, parents Gordon and Esther MacIntosh and brother Glendon MacIntosh. Norma’s family takes comfort in the knowledge that Norma is reunited with Ben, and that they are holding hands once again. The family would also like to express gratitude to the staff and residents of Glen Haven Manor for the care, kindness and friendship they provided Norma during her time there. In accordance with Norma’s wishes, no visitation or services will take place. Tributes, words of comfort and memories of Norma may be shared with the family at www.angusfuneralhomes.com. To honor Norma, please consider making a donation to Alzheimer Society of Canada to enable their on-going support of individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
