I am so very sorry to hear of Hilary’s passing. I had the true pleasure of working with him during my time at DCS - Not frequent contact but always memorable. For me, Hilary was one of a dedicated and capable group of leaders in the DSP service provider world. His experience was considerable and his perspective always based on that experience and what was best for residents. My sincere condolences to Hilary’s family and friends.

Hillary was the most kind and easy going guy you would ever encounter. Our boys played Basketball together. During our basketball time together I convinced Hillary to have a meal... gathering all of the Basketball parents. He embraced it! Man that guy could cook! Hillary will be missed! He will be remembered for his gentle kind demeanor!

I was an employee of HCRS when Hilary was hired.
At that time many residents were in need of better furniture & other things to improve their quality of life.
Almost immediately Hilary saw the need & implemented his plan to make many improvements.
When I retired I knew everyone was in good hands.
He will be missed by many but his Heavenly reward will be so deserving.
Sincere Condolences to his Family.

We were saddened to hear about Hilary’s passing. We both have very fond memories of Hilary from our time at ST FX. We initially met Hilary through some of his long time Antigonish friends. He was always welcoming and engaging, a great man who approached life with intelligence and humour. It was always a pleasure to be in his company.
We know he will be deeply missed by family and friends. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Allan and I send our condolences to the family. I remember that Hilary gave one of our daughters a summer job at HCRS, a job that started her on a path of caring for people. I always appreciated how he checked in with her periodically, even after she went on to University. Hilary loved to laugh, and tell stories. During the almost two decades Allan served with Hilary on two boards, I enjoyed Hilary's visits to the house to drop something off or discuss board business. From afar I would hear Hilary's unmistakable laugh punctuating the more serious discussions. We are so sorry for your loss.

I am so saddened to read about Hilary's death. He was a member of my Folk Choir at St. Ninian's decades ago. I remember his full-of-fun demeanour, his bigger than life persona, and his willingness to share his talents. One particular Advent Saturday evening Mass, he "played" the ledge in the choir loft (as we didn't have a drum) to Godspell's Prepare Ye The Way of The Lord. What a hoot! It certainly woke up anyone in the congregation who might have been dozing off! Poor Fr. Murphy almost lost his mind. Every time I think of Hilary or Godspell, that memory comes flooding back and gives me the greatest laugh. You will miss him terribly. My condolences to all your family.

Deepest sympathy Linda & Amit family everywhere, as you mourn - and celebrate - Hilary’s wonderful life.
His ability to see joy everywhere, his boundless energy and a commitment to community change made him an insightful colleague (at Canada World Youth), a lively flatmate (in the music-filled-house-with-turret on McLean St in Halifax) and a kind & caring friend.
Oh … and his generous hosting of delicious Sri Lankan feasts full of laughter and deep, intellectual discussions of how to change the world!!! RIP Hilary … you’ve done that and more!

Ian and I are so saddened to hear of Hilary’s passing. Hilary was a good friend and colleague through the Aberdeen Health Foundation and as a community friend. We loved seeing the Facebook photos of his Christmas baking, and the photos and stories of the family. Hilary was always there to make things better for anyone who needed help. I remember one such evening where a colleague was in need of a safe house. Hilary had a solution and offered it up without hesitation. Hilary, you will be missed.
