Raymond Oliver MacDougall Obituary


Raymond Oliver MacDougall (1934- 2024), age 90, passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital November 2, 2024 after a short illness.

Born in Blue Mountain, Nova Scotia, Raymond went to school in New Glasgow after finishing grade 12 he went to Halifax business school. Raymond worked at David's shoe store, later on working for the CN freight company. After a few years he met Lennie MacKenzie. They married and moved back to New Glasgow. Raymond went to work for Maritime Auto Supply. After a number of years, he bought out his business partner and took on a new partner.

Devoted to his church he took up the job of being an Elder and had many different positions in the church.

Raymond loved to travel to Florida and really loved playing bridge, and loved having dinner parties. Well known for his fudge and his chicken sandwiches “without crust”.

Raymond was predeceased by his wife Lennie (MacKenzie) MacDougall his sister Alexis (Alex) brothers and sisters- in -law Fraser (Annie), Fred (Lena), Clarence (Elizabeth), Everett (Margaret).

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline MacDougall and his nieces and nephews Gail (Clyde), Barry (Linda), Wayne (Sharon), Lynn, Ferne (Allen), Shelly (Sheldon), Marie (Randy), Fred (Marcella).

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday from the Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton with Rev. Jun-Hyok Chun presiding. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.

Burial of ashes will take place in the Abercrombie Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Sharon St. John United Church Building Fund.
