Stephanie joked we’ve been friends since birth, not many people can say that. We have so many great memories growing up together in Sackville. From skating on the lake behind her house, riding our bikes all over the neighborhood, even before all the roads were paved, playing soccer baseball in street in front of our houses to roller skating at Wheelies a couple times a week. We took part in the winter carnival as part of the Bashful section, becoming cheerleaders for the cause. Stephanie loved the holidays, and her family threw the best Halloween parties, they also had the largest Christmas tree you could find, I think they got bigger every year! They took days to decorate and required ladders to reach the top and more strands of lights and ornaments you could possibly imagine. Every ornament we ever made in school would be proudly displayed on the tree every year, going all the way back to elementary school. We walked to school together every day, until she got her first car, then we drove to school together every day. We played basketball together, made great friends along the way. After high school we took French immersion at Laval in Quebec City, we had so much fun there we kept going back for several years to visit. As we got older and moved in different directions, she always remained part of our family and wanted to be included in any and all events or get togethers, including our annual Name That Tune competition, Starlite Lounge New Years Eve party up to Weir Rockin every summer. So many good times and fun memories. It is hard to imagine a world without her in it. She will be very greatly missed. My deepest condolences to the Gillespie family. XO

I am at a loss for words and truly heartbroken… Stephanie, (or Gup), as she was affectionately known, played a big part in my family’s life having grown up across the street. She was a welcome presence in life events, big or small, across so many years and was indeed part of our family. She was supportive, fun, generous, and loyal- easily one of the most down to earth and accommodating people I’ve ever had the joy of knowing. She was the keeper of shared moments, cherished memories, and our childhood history. She would often take pleasure in the re-telling of stories throughout the years! It kept us close, it kept us laughing, it kept us reminiscing, and it underscored the ease and comfort we always felt in her presence. Stephanie was known for her beautiful big hair (eighties girl!), and her infamous performance as Aretha Franklin at a high school event ! So many happy memories of Stephanie - I will be spending a great deal of time in the coming days reflecting upon how important she was to me and mine. Most impactful of all was that she was known by family and friends to be gentle, forever helpful, and unconditionally loving. She will be profoundly missed by so many, and our hearts go out to the Gillespie family at this time of incredible loss. We will forever hold you dearly Guppie xo
