Phyllis Marian MacDonald
Phyllis Marian MacDonald, 95, Stellarton formally of Little Harbour, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Glen Haven Manor.
Born in New Glasgow on November 14, 1928 she was the eldest child of the late Hudson and Marion (Forstyth) Fraser.
Previous to her marriage to the late Gordon MacDonald, she was a school teacher in Pictou County. She was a member of the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent for many years. She was a life member of the Little Harbour AMS.
Phyllis was involved in several art groups and her paintings were on display in local galleries and art shows. She was a member of the Blue Nose Rug Hookers. Her beautiful rugs and paintings will be forever treasured by her loved ones. Many happy hours were spent with family and friends and tending to her beautiful flower gardens.
She is survived by her daughter Marian (Graham) Nonamaker and their children, Adam, Laura and Leah (Justin) Paradis and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Paradis, all of Halifax; son Allister (Kathy) New Glasgow and their sons, Spencer, Dartmouth and Riley, Stellarton. She is survived by sisters, Mary (Laurence) Cameron, Ontario; Margaret (Gary) Hurtubise, Florida ; Anna (Colin) Kelly, Ontario; Judy (Gordon) McKay, Alberta; Eileen Ryan, Ontario; brothers, Donald, Ontario ; Bill (Jean), Ontario; sister in law, Marilyn, Ontario as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by brothers, Harvey, Lorin, Allister; brother in law, Mike Ryan; sister in laws, Patricia, Ellen and special nephew, Paul Hurtubise.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Aberdeen Hospital (ER, 4th, 5th and Palliative Care), VON, EHS, Glen Haven Manor, friends and neighbours. We will be forever grateful for the care and kindness you provided.
In honour of Phyllis’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. Flowers and donations are gratefully declined. In her memory, please do a kind deed for someone in need.
