I had the pleasure of sitting beside Phyllis at the Westville Heritage Art Group for a number of years. She was so king, encouraging and also very helpful to me as a new artist.
Such a fine artist herself, Phyllis generously helped me when I asked for her help with my early paintings.
I am so sorry for your loss.

After Phyllis left Little Harbour we would meet very occasionally in Tim’s or Macs for a coffee and chat. This stopped with Covid and never started again. The obituary reminded me of her love and gift of painting and brought back memories of the painting she did for me of a sailing boat coming into a misty harbour. It was a copy of one of the master painters. I wanted it for a gift for my parents fiftieth wedding anniversary. The painting has now passed down to my brother who was in the merchant navy for over sixty years and when we go on zoom for a chat I see it hanging on his wall in Manchester, England
I will remember Phyllis as a very reserved person whose memory will go on in her creative art something visual her grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her by.

Aunt Phyllis,
I don't believe there are words appropriate enough to capture how special you were to me.
Memories made with you; will forever be something I cherish. From your warm blueberry pie, when you knew I was coming, our trips to Melmerby Beach to look for shells, and watch the waves, being my pen-pal and looking so forward to receiving your letters, ribbon and sugar candy packages at Christmas, time well spent sharing stories, getting mad at Allister for having me out too late getting ice cream, but most of all your knack for making me feel so incredibly special.
Your presence in my life will be greatly missed. And I truly believe you did beat my dad running! I love you and will forever cherish our time spent together.
Love always
Tracey

My deepest condelences to Marian, Allister and families.
I have very fond memories of your mum. I remember Marian and I playing at your house and dressing up as Nurses., playing in the woods outback and bringing treats for the squirrels. The swinging door between the kitchen and diningroom. These are great memories and I will forever remember them about your beautiful home.
Your mum was such a lovely person and had the greatest smile, she will be missed.
Take care and God Bless.

My sincere condolences to the family. Phyllis was truly a wonderful lady. I had the opportunity to talk to her about her painting of a man and woman on a one horse open sleigh. She sat and told me of the story of her father’s courtship of her mother in a one horse open sleigh and how the painting was her representation of that courtship. She was a beautiful artist but that story still stays with me

My condolences to Phyllis’s family! Phyllis was my teacher at Kirkmount in Grades 4, 5 & 6! She was the smartest, kindest & best teacher I ever had! She was truly loved by her pupils, from the youngest to the oldest! My brother Raymond Wilsack had her as a teacher in grades 2, 3 & 4! We have visited and kept in contact all these years and our friendship and conversations always went back to the school years we had on the mountain! It was a privilege to have spent these last years so close and my visits with her, and sharing of ‘ice cream bars’ will be in my heart forever! Raymond sends his caring & condolences from Pawtucket, Rhode Island and he always enjoyed hearing of my visits with her and always asked to be remembered to her! Raymond & I will always be thankful for the memories we shared and she will always be in our thoughts & prayers! Helen Jordan(nee Wilsack) & Raymond Wilsack!

Helen, Thank you. Yes, Phyllis loved her time on the 'Mountain' so it's likely her love came through in her teaching. We often wonder how a young teenager could manage all those grades in the one room school. She would often comment that she had visits from you and Vera. How nice that Raymond also remembered her. You all were special to her too. RIP sweet sister. Love, Mary (Fraser) Cameron

To Phyllis' family,
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Phyllis was such a lovely, creative and intelligent person. My brother lives in your old family homestead and our family loved to hear the old stories and history of that beautiful place. Phyllis was always so nice to our niece who lives there as well. Also she did rug hooking with my mother who throughly enjoyed that time and often remarked on the beautiful work of Phyllis. Definitely a special lady who will be missed by many who knew her. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
John & Darlene Reeves

Thank you John and Darlene. We knew of her visits to 'our' farm and Vincent. We knew of her association with Barbara too. Phyllis was the only sibling to remain in NS so kept us updated with life from Thorburn but also being the oldest, life from earlier generations. She was artistic. Her paintings and hooked rugs are treasured. We will miss her so much. We're thankful we had such a great role model.

Phyll, as my eldest sibling, you were our inspiration and role model. You set that bar high and we are all still striving to achieve those lofty standards. You were kind, insightful, determined, strong and oh so talented. Thank you for being such a wonderful sister. Love you.
