Obituary of Eldridge Donald Ross
Please share a memory of Eldridge to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eldridge Donald Ross, 81 of Chance Harbour Road, Trenton. It is with full hearts and great sadness to announce the passing of beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who took his final breath in the early morning of August 18th, 2024 at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home surrounded by a group of loving, compassionate nurses and his family who stayed with him up until the end following a long battle with dementia.
Eldridge was the son of the late Alexander and Daisy (Snow) Ross. Eldridge was predeceased by his lovely daughter Denise Ross who he will be now reunited with as she welcomes him with open arms.
Eldridge enjoyed being outdoors as he was an avid hunter who also enjoyed fishing, four wheeling and washer toss.
Eldridge was a family man who had an infectious smile and laugh that could brighten any day. Eldridge had a heart of gold and a work ethic that was unmatched. Although he was unable to speak in the final stages of his life Eldridge made a point to squeeze everyone’s hand one last time as his way of saying “Goodbye, I love you and I will be waiting for you”. Eldridge leaves behind a family who loves and cherished him deeply. He is survived by his sons Jamie (Elaine) Ross, and Douglas (Tim) Ross, and grandson Eldridge (Leanne) Murchison. With these people in Eldridge’s life, he was never alone, including his last weekend as he was surrounded by the people listed above as they shared cherished memories and stories of Eldridge.
The family would like to thank the Maritime Odd Fellows Home and their staff who from the first day Eldridge arrived was nothing but compassionate and respectful towards Eldridge and his family right up until he took his last breath.
Arrangements have been made with the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow where Eldridge will be cremated. The family have chosen not to have a wake/funeral.
