Obituary of Patrick Shreenan

Thomas Patrick (Pat) Shreenan, age 69, of Lansdowne, NS, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow with his wife Carolyn by his side. Born October 10, 1954, in Montreal, Quebec where he lived for 10 years before his family moved back home to Pictou County, NS. Pat was a man of deep compassion and kindness. He was adored and cherished by his family, freinds and students. Pat was a loyal and unforgettable son and brother, was resolutely devoted to his wife, as well as his two fur babies, Charlie and Mardie, with whom he loved spending everyday life. Pat graduated from Nova Scotia Teachers’ College in 1979. He taught Industrial Arts/Tech Ed for 36 years in the Halifax Regional School Board. Pat’s woodworking skills were put to use in building his and Carolyn’s retirement home in Lansdowne, where they retired to in 2015. Pat’s passion for teaching cultivated many long lasting friendships with students. During his teaching years at Lockview High School, Pat lead many extra curricular activities and had formed a Snowboarding Team, as well as a Robotics Club. Pat’s love of motorcycles had him taking many touring adventures throughout Nova Scotia along with friends. Pat cherished the many fishing tournaments he and his brothers Mike and Peter participated in over the years and always had a fish tale to share to whom ever would listen. Pat and Carolyn had many adventures throughout Canada, including fulfilling a dream of spending a Christmas in Lake Louise, Alberta. Aside from his wife Carolyn, he is survived by his mother Kathleen Shreenan. Children, Jennifer Shreenan, Brian Shreenan (Angela), stepsons Jesse Garden (Julia) and Tyler Garden (Jenni), along with his loving grandchildren Colten, Josiah, Bella, Owen, Rylee and Mateah. Siblings Mike (Minnie), Peter (Donna), Frank, Susie (Ernie), Kathy (Rick). Many Nieces and Nephews. Predeceased by his father John Patrick Shreenan. Cremation has taken place under the care H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at West River Fire Department, 19 Gates Lane West River, NS, on August 18, 2024, from 1 to 4 PM. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Glen Haven Manor, especially the nursing staff in River Glen for their compassion and support during this long journey with dementia.
