Obituary of Marion Ethel MacKenzie

Pictou Landing/ Middle Sackville- It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of my dear sister Marion Ethel (Sutherland) MacKenzie on Sunday July 7th, 2024 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Cameron) Sutherland. Marion worked for the government in Halifax until retirement. She enjoyed doing her crafts and reading as her main hobbies. She made lots of people happy with her beautiful tole painting over the years. She and Mel enjoyed their cottage in Pictou Landing and after retiring they built their home in Pictou Landing. Surviving are her sister Sandra Maguire, brother-in -law Bryan (Carol) MacKenzie, sister-in-law Lynn Buck, brother-in-law Dale Buck, several nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Melvyn, brother-in-law Ken Maguire, sister-in-law Jeanette Hansford, brother-in-law Richard MacKenzie. Special thanks to Marilyn and Jim Cameron, Mary Jane and Lance Kenny, paramedics, doctors and nurses. Cremation has taken place by request of the deceased. There will be a small graveside service for Marion and her late husband Melvyn at the Sunny Brae Cemetery on Tuesday July 16th at 2 P.M. with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating for family and close friends. Donations in memory of Marion may be made to the SPCA or to a charity of your choice.
