Bowman, Joseph Wayne- We regret to announce the passing of Joseph Wayne Bowman, 69 of New Glasgow which occurred March 20, 2024 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Ernest and Catherine (Benoit)Bowman.
In his younger years Joe was a great pitcher. When his son, Lucas started to play baseball, he pitched his games, as well as any of the other teams that needed a pitcher to pitch to their kids. He loved snooker/pool, golfing, bowling and darts and was always better than anyone else if you asked him. Fishing trout and driving his motorcycle on a sunny day were two of his favorite things. Joe worked for many years at Pepsi. He also worked as a woodsman and retired as a Scaffolder in the carpenter union.
Joe is survived by the love of his life for 40 years, Wendy and their son Lucas, who was his everything, his brothers: Gerald (Jakye)Bowman, Bill (Marg)Bowman, John Cameron, sisters: Donna Pitts (Byron Wilson), Anne McLeod, goddaughter Lindsey Bowman, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Catherine Bowman, a brother-in-law Jim McLeod, father and mother-in-law Emery and Kathleen Chamberlain.
His remains will rest at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Friday from where funeral services will be held 11am Saturday with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. A reception will follow the service at the Sister Catherine Steele Center, Stellarton. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the Halifax Infirmary and the Aberdeen Hospital. A special thanks to family doctor, Thomas Park and Dr. Imran Hack for their compassion during this difficult time.
