Obituary of Wadiah Hanna Chediac

Please share a memory of Wadiah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beloved father, grandfather and friend. Wadiah Hanna “Woody” Chediac, 71, of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home with family in the Ponds, Nova Scotia on February 25, 2024 – the second blessed Sunday of Lent. Woody was born in Bchaaleh, Lebanon in 1953 to Hanna Salim Chidiac and Maryam Youssef (Chedid) Chidiac. His homeland was precious to him as were his family and friends there, here in Canada and around the world. Woody came to New Glasgow as a teenager and initially stayed with family that had immigrated here prior to his arrival. He went on to start several businesses around the province, marry and create a family in Port Hawkesbury. Post retirement, he worked seasonally at the fish plant in Petit-de-Grat. Woody will always be remembered for his friendly demeanor, positivity, delicious Lebanese cooking, vegetable gardening and, most importantly, the love and light he brought to the lives of others. He is survived by his three children, Monier (Wendy), Joseph and Christina Chediac as well as his two grandchildren, Jack and Devin Chediac. He is also survived by his siblings, Mounera Halo (of Florida), Renee Nassar (of Ontario), Youssef Chidiac (of Lebanon) and Salwa Sakr (of Lebanon). He was predeceased by his parents as well as siblings, Monier Chediac (of Port Hawkesbury), Tom Chediac (of New Glasgow), Fawzi Chediac (of Halifax), Salim Chidiac (of Lebanon) and Fouad Chidiac (of Lebanon). He is missed immensely and will forever live on in this world in our hearts and spirits. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, March 7 at 2 PM. A reception will follow the service in the Sister Catherine Steele Center. Burial will take place at a later date. We would like to thank the palliative care team and the VON in Pictou County who provided immense support to Woody and family. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
