Stephen Lamey 91, of Fraser’s Mountain passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, January 25, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born February 6, 1932 in Westville, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (MacDonald) Lamey. Steve worked as a meat cutter during his working life where he became a master of his craft. In his younger years he travelled to Toronto where he became a Meat Manager. He then returned to Nova Scotia, where he worked as a Meat Manager at a Dominion Store in New Glasgow. After several years he opened his own Custom Meat business in Fraser’s Mountain and finally he finished his career as owner of Steve’s Meats in Westville. Steve greatly valued his faith and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic church, New Glasgow. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Steve loved people and had a gift for engaging strangers, friends and family in conversation. He carried a special love and rapport for children, especially babies. If small children or babies were in the room, you could be assured he could be found entertaining them. Steve’s love for nature found him engaged in outdoor pastimes. He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. His kind, fun loving nature will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years: Joan, Fraser’s Mountain; daughter Debbie Lamey-MacDonald (Ian MacDonald) Plymouth, Son Stephen Lamey ( Nancy Morrell-Lamey) MacLellan’s Mtn.; Grandaughter Lacey Morrell-Pierre (Joceyln Pierre), Grandsons Brett and Tristan MacDonald.
