Ruby Ethel Weir, 92 of Stillwater, Guysborough County passed away peacefully Jan. 19th, 2024 at High Crest Nursing Home, Sherbrooke. Ruby was Born July 30, 1931 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Daughter of the late Edwin and Catherine Cumminger, Caledonia. Ruby will be deeply missed by her Son Ed (Cheryl) Weir, Stillwater. Daughter Helene Weir (Peggy Peyerl) Phoenix, Grandson Derek (Stephanie) Weir, Riverview, NB Great Grandsons, Owen and Connor Weir and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Bruce of 61 years, Grandson David Weir, Brothers James, Clark, Harry. Sisters Belle, Margaret and Laura. Ruby loved and enjoyed spending time with her Cumminger and Weir families over the years and was very proud of her Grandson Derek and her Great Grandsons Owen and Connor. Ruby worked at St Mary’s Memorial Hospital, was a Stillwater Community Club volunteer and she was a longtime volunteer at High Crest Nursing home before becoming a resident there for 8 years. She enjoyed bowling and music. Special thank you to all her special care givers and staff at High Crest. The quality of the care provided was exceptional and is greatly appreciated by the family. Thank you to Dr J. McLean and Dr M. Ackerman. Funeral service Saturday Jan. 27th St James Presbyterian Church Sherbrooke, 2:00 pm, family burial at Riverside Cemetery. Reception to follow, Lions Hall Sherbrooke.
