Katherine Shirley "(Kaye)" Sharpe Obituary

Katherine (Kaye) Shirley (Palmer) Sharpe 88, of Sunny Brae passed away on November 21, 2023 at home surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Lower Caledonia on April 24, 1935, she was the youngest daughter of the late David & Minnie (George) Palmer. Kaye was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She grew up in Lower Caledonia, met Odis Sharpe & they married on Oct 23, 1951. They settled in Glencoe & later moved to Sunny Brae. She worked cleaning houses in her younger years & then Michelin Tire, from where she retired.

Kaye was very active in her community. She was a member, manager and elder of Calvin Presbyterian Church and belonged to Calvin Ladies Aid. She belonged to MacDonald Rebekah Lodge #108 for over 50 years & held the Noble Grand & other positions at different times. She was a leader in SBI 4H Club for over 30 years. She also belonged to AMS for 40+ years, taking part in many services. She belonged to the Michelin Retirees bowling club & also went to craft days with the “Craft Ladies”.

Kaye enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, painting ceramics, and cooking, especially for her family & community events. She loved camping at Seafoam campground where she spent her days swimming in the ocean, playing Bingo & a good game of Skip Bo. She enjoyed trips to Florida to visit her sister Audrey, and many shopping trips to Bangor with family & friends.

Kaye is survived by her children: Laurie, Wanda (Ian) MacKay, Wade, Brian (Brenda), Irving (Wendy), & Valerie; grandchildren: Angela (Gregg), Jannesta, Richard, Eric (Kristina), Amanda (Derek), Lori (Randy), Craig (Erin), Ashley (Daniel), Travis, Justin (Robyn), Christopher, Marcus (Marissa), Zachery, Joshua, Sidney, Alannah (Thomas), Kelsey (Steven), Julian; 21 great grandchildren, & 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Helen Sharpe, Marion Kenney, Lorraine MacDougall; brother-in-law Cliff Sharpe; and numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.

She was pre-deceased by her parents David & Minnie, stepfather Walter MacLennan, husband Odis, daughter-in-law Mary, brother Geordie Palmer, sisters Audrey Cameron & Evelyn Sharpe, & numerous nieces & nephews.

Visitation is Thursday at HW Angus Funeral Home from 2-4pm and 6:30-9pm with a Rebekah Lodge #108 service held at 6pm. Funeral will be held at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Friday at 2pm with Rev Greg Dickson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny Brae Cemetery alongside her late husband Odis. Family flowers only. Donations may be given to the Sunny Brae Cemetery, St Paul’s Church, Palliative Care Society or VON.
