It is with the heaviest of hearts I am deeply saddened to share the sudden passing
of our beloved John Harb. My daughter Marit is broken hearted on losing her beloved father in law, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
Jimmy flew home to be with family, and his dad sadly passed away before he could make it back on time.
I met John and his wife Francis in 2005 when I traveled to Nova Scotia with my mom on a cross
Canada trip of a lifetime which was my mom's greatest wish to visit all of Canada. I had already fallen in love with their beautiful son Jimmy,
my daughter Marit's life partner. They gave us the most gracious welcome, picking us up in Truro,
and insisting we sleep in their bedroom while they made due on couches in the living room!
I remember so much beautiful homemade baking, and large bowls of lobsters until we could eat no more!
Then the music started, with family coming in and everyone playing an instrument. Mom was enchanted, and so was I.
Since then, we have had many wonderful visits, hence all our trips to the East Coast to see our east coast family. We were
blessed to share Thanksgiving together 4 years ago, and share John's 82 birthday with him last year. He was so sweet, so kind,
so loving, so funny, and he loved to tell a story which just was a pleasure to sit by his side and have a listen!
I cannot believe that he will not be there the next time we go, and he will be acutely missed. I am eternally grateful to have loved him,
and he loved me back. Den and I will miss you always dearest John

From the moment I met my father in law John I knew we would get along wonderfully. He was such a charmer, sometimes a joker, and a really great listener. He, and my mother in law, made me feel so welcome, it was like coming home for my first time. I loved talking to dad, he had the gift of gab, and and made me smile and laugh all day. I remember one day we were in Soup's Garage together, and I let my guard down and just poured out my heart to him about my own father and life. Then I stopped and thought 'oh no, I have said too much!' And he gave me this warm smile, and he reassured me that I was loved by them all, and welcome always in their homes and life. He made me feel loved unconditionally. We used to also like scratching lotto tickets together and he was The Luckiest winner! But he would just exchange the winning ticket for more lottos so we could keep playing. He was always a generous gentleman. He was so sharp and steady, a true pillar of the family. Despite being a former meat cutter, he had a soft spot for animals, and really couldn't harm a fly, and I loved that too. He also had a great voice, used to croon here and there, which will be so dearly missed. Dad, thank you for raising such wonderful children and grandchildren, and sharing your family with me. I am incredibly honored to have known you, wish we had more time together, but I will never ever forget you, and your love.

Some of my favourite memories have been going to my Nanny and Puppy Dunbar’s house, his neighbors, when I was young. I remember they had a bowl of dubble bubble gum high up in the cupboard, puppy and camell would be sitting in the garage and we would go get some gum from the house. Hanging out with Sarah and knowing her family was a big part of growing up for me. I’ll always appreciate the memories and kindness from them❤️
