Wagg, Raymond Percy- The family of Raymond Percy Wagg announce his passing on October 2, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 15th, 1954 in Huntsville, Ontario, he was a son of the late Percival and Theresa (Rose)Wagg. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Diane, his three children; Charlotte (John) Potter, Haley (Carl) Wagg, Mitchell (Monika) Wagg and chosen son Keith (April) Ross, grandchildren; Kathryne, Owen, Gabriella, Ellis, Olivier, Nicole and Alexander. He is also survived by his brothers Ernie (Evelyn), Roger (Shannon), Christopher (Antoinette) as well as many much loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Theresa & Percival and his brothers Larry (Cheryl) and James (Jean). Ray was a passionate man with a thirst for life. He went to high school in his hometown of Huntsville, ON where he graduated All-Ontario boy and valedictorian of his class. He was accepted to the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and it was there he met Jack MacLeod who became his lifelong friend and business partner. Ray had countless accomplishments in life, but none he was more proud of than his family. Starting with his sweetheart and love of his life Diane. Ray and Diane met as young teens and fell quickly in love. After marrying they moved to Nova Scotia to begin their family. It was a home always filled with love and laughter - Ray always making sure his family came first. He was a selfless man with a heart of gold. Being a part of his life was a gift and being a part of his family was the ultimate prize. His positive energy was infectious and his friendships were cherished by many. Ray was a member of the Kinsmen Club of Canada for 44 years. His Kin family gave as much back to him as he gave to it. In that time, he served on the National, District, Zone and Club executives and was honoured with his life membership, along with Diane, in 1993. He contributed to many other organizations - President of the NS Association of Optometrists, Chairman of the Aberdeen Hospital Foundation, President of Summer Street Industries, Chairman of the Leaders of the Way and fundraising efforts for the Pictou County Wellness Center and Samson Trail. He believed in, and gave countless hours, to the Liberal Party of Canada. Along with these, he gave of himself to many other deserving causes. Ray had a wealth of friendships - he was always the life of the party - a “turn the lights down, turn the music up” kind of guy. Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church (Temperance St) New Glasgow on Tuesday, October 17th at 2:00pm. Reception will follow at Summer Street Industries (72 Park St) - all are welcome.
