Obituary of C. Randall Ervin

Please share a memory of C. Randall to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
C. Randall (Randy) Ervin  1943 – 2023    Randy Ervin, age 80, of Little Harbour, passed away on August 26, 2023.  Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late George Randall and Myrtle Mary Ellen (Schrader) Ervin.    Randy joined the Royal Canadian Engineers at age 18 and travelled to  B. C. for his training.  He especially enjoyed this time in recruit squadron where he made many friends during his 12 years in the military.  He married his wife, Joan, and they travelled to N. B., Germany, Vancouver Island, Alberta and back to good old N. S.  He was a jack of all trades and could put his hand to anything.  He also worked for many years as a heavy duty mechanic throughout Pictou County.  Randy and Joan had many adventures in his antique 1956 yellow mercury truck, which he even drove to Nfld.  Randy enjoyed playing Oldtimers hockey for many years and later enjoyed travelling the maritimes watching his grandson, Kyle, play hockey. He always looked forward to his nightly phone calls from his grandson, Jarrett. Jarrett called his grandfather, 'Papa Dude'. Randy could be found for many years at Tim Hortons where he spent many hours visiting with his friends. His faithful dog and companion, Biskit, was always along for the ride. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan (White); and their children Brad (Lisa) Ervin and Gloria (Albert) MacDonald; grandchildren Kyle Ervin and Jarrett MacDonald; brothers Bruce (Janet), Greg (Barb) and Bill (Kathy Kate); sisters Brenda Levangie, Wendy (Donald) Williams; sister-in-law Chris Ervin; brothers-in-law Gordon (Carolyn) White, Brian (Beverly) White and Dennis (Debbie) White; many wonderful nieces and nephews; unofficial adopted family members Linda and Jean; and Uncle Mac Shrader and family from Tor Bay. Randy so loved visiting Tor Bay and considered this location his second home.     Randy was predeceased by his parents; brother Bari; brother-in-law Frank Levangie; nephew Brian Levangie and in-laws Howard and Olive White.  Per Randy's wishes his family is holding a celebration of life ceremony instead of a traditional funeral. You are invited to join his family on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at the Little Harbour Fire Department between 2 and 4 pm for this informal event. At around 3:30 anyone who wants to share any memories will have an opportunity to do so. Randy's family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. The love, care, friendship and compassion they showed Randy was greatly appreciated. Any donations in Randy's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
