I am saddened to learn of Gerry's passing but happy to remember her as a CEC Social Studies teacher and the collegial spirit she brought to Node 3. Her devotion to her students and teaching friends will be missed.

Gerry was inspiring, caring and funny. She influenced my career as a teacher. Grade 11 is a long time ago but the memories are still bright. None more so than the day a group of us spent the day in Balmoral whitewashing her chicken coop.

In my grade 11 year at CEC I realized physics and I were not meant to be. I transferred into Ms. Hamm's history class and it may have altered my life forever! She was amazing. Over time, we became colleagues and friends as I became a history teacher at CEC.
She was my mentor in many ways, not the least of which was her weather (snow day) prognostication.
We all need sign posts in our lives to direct us, she was one of mine.

A very kind, thoughtful, gracious and cherished friend , a great canasta player, and to make sure we would both remember the rules, she wrote everything out on slips of paper, to which we would have to refer, many times, every game, amid gales of laughter.
Gerry ann was always a very giving person and I used to get after her being too giving….for instance we once discussed our love of stewed rhubarb over a cup of her favorite Lady grey tea and on her next stop a week later at my cottage she arrived with a large potted rhubarb plant for me, from the Farmers Market, so we could be certain to enjoy stewed rhubarb the following spring, which we did. Gerry brought joy, laughter, and kindness in every get together and she left us too fast and too soon. She is, and will continue to be sadly missed by so many.
My deepest sympathies to all her family whom she loved dearly, as well as her many, many friends. She touched so very many hearts. May her precious soul rest in peace.

Gerry was a dear friend and wonderful neighbour. We spent many memorable times together over the years. We enjoyed playing for hours on the tennis court. Spent early morning walks through Bible Hill. Our many girls trips to cottages and a unforgettable journeys to Cape Breton. ‘Ya but’ none of these can take second place to our more than 20 years playing weekly bridge games with the step sisters, with favourite treats, many sweets, coffee, laughter and music. “I don’t feel like dancin’ “
And “Constant Sorrow.”
Gerry was an unique, caring, thoughtful , very independent gal who loved life. I will miss my good friend.
Our deepest sympathy to John, Genesta and family.

I was a friend of Geraldine being the principals wife and also from Pictou County but also too having mobility problems at times we would have chance meetings at the walking track at the RathEastlink community center many times or grocery shopping at our favorite Sobeys store encouraging each other to not give up but we always ended with a story to give each other a good laugh of the day!!! Covid came along and interrupted our chance meetings I will miss seeing Geraldine but always when at the walking track I will remember her words of encouragement not to give up! Deepest sympathy to her family!

Gerry was a friend to me when I was going through a very difficult time. She invited me into her home and cottage. I remember her chicken wings, they were epic. Sadly, I lost touch over the years, but have good memories of her, from her passion of tennis and weather.
Rest peacefully Gerry.
Sincere condolences to John, Genesta, her nephews and niece, of whom she was so proud.

Gerry Ann’s been a wonderful friend to mom and our family for many years. Mom fondly remembers her frequent after school visits to our home on Elm Street and we always enjoyed her passionate discussions and hearty laugh when she’d drop by for coffee while visiting Pictou County over the years. Sending condolences to her family on behalf of Phyllis and the Williston family.

I will always remember GerryAnn’s amazing sense of humour. GerryAnn introduced me to stamp collecting when I was quite young. Shamefully, it’s not something that I kept up, but I still have my collection, including many stamps that she gifted to me. I remember her time in Montreal and the times that she visited us for dinner. She had an amazing sense of humour and my mom, Joan and grandmother, Rite always had a great time when they got together. I will always have fond memories of her.
Please accept our condolences upon hearing the sad news of GerryAnn’s passing. John and Genesta, our thoughts are with you and your family.

My deepest sympathies to Gerry's family. I fondly remember when my husband, Graham McCulloch, and I would take his mother Marguerite to visit Gerry; those two had so much fun together. Gerry loved her 'Auntie Rite' and looked forward to spending a few days with her whenever Rite was visiting from Montreal. Oh how they laughed; Gerry always had a special lunch when we arrived and would be zooming around the kitchen preparing and serving. She was a joy to be around, with a heart of gold. I know she will be missed by all who knew her.

Aunt Gerry’s passing weighs heavily on our hearts, but as we remember her, we’re struck by the remarkable woman that she was. She wasn’t just a beloved part of our family but a role model for each of us.
Aunt Gerry had an amazing way of being a teacher, not just in school but in life. She made celebrating our wins feel like a big deal – those report card moments were more than just grades; they were a reminder of her unwavering support and belief in our potential.
As we remember her, a flood of memories come rushing in — brunches filled with laughter, shared stories, and those clam digging escapades that turned into unforgettable adventures.
Aunt Gerry’s legacy continues to inspire us. Even though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught, the love she shared, and the memories we hold close.
Rest easy, Aunt Gerry. You’ve left a space that can’t be filled, but your impact will be felt forever ❤️
Love,
Sara, Emily, and Megan

Gerry was one of the first people I met when I moved to Nova Scotia over 40 years ago. She gave me dishes, utensils, tools; she helped with the building of my cottage and we became fast friends. And Gerry was always a friend indeed to all she met. She was so generous of heart and was always ready to help newcomers, as well as those she dearly loved. I spent many wonderful days with Gerry at her cottage where we would eat, drink and belt out tunes in harmony. I shall keep her spirit close to my heart. She was a wonderful friend.

So going to miss my dear friend and her daily phone calls with computer and TV problems.; my treats for her from the Brookfield Bakery and laughs and lunch at Rustico and Toney River. Gerry was the Master of notes on tiny pieces of paper. My dear friend, I shall miss you terribly. Your house was my stop-over between Halifax and the cottage. Cherished those visits.
