Verna Darlene MacLean – 69 of Chance Harbour Road, Trenton, NS. With heavy hearts, we the family of Verna Darlene MacLean announce her passing on Thursday July 20th, 2023. Born in Trenton N.S. She was the daughter of the late James Earl MacLean and Doris Edna MacLean. Verna has been reunited with her late partner David McSween and her son Jeffery Allan Scanlan (Sherri). She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Ann-Louise Scanlan (Cory) and Tina Rose-Marie Scanlan (Ramona). She will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters, James MacLean (Debbie), Vera Bingham (Arthur), Alfred MacLean, Janet Mackenzie (David) and April Stewart (Aubrey). Verna was a beloved Grandmother and Great Grandmother (GG) to Ross Warren (Tiffany), R.J. Alcon, Jacob Alcorn, Justin Alcorn (Brianna), Rachael Aikens, Remy Scanlan, Rhylie Aikens, Makayla Scanlan(Dawson), Melissa Scanlan, James Warren, Dahlia Dawson and Karagan Warren. Verna leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family and friends. Everyone who knew her will feel the loss of her warm smile and generosity. No one ever left her house without a wave from the doorway and a full belly. In her early career, Verna enjoyed working with differently abled individuals and later in life she was the proud owner of Suncatcher Kennels. Among her many hobbies she loved gardening, and baking and cooking for her loved ones, knitting and crafts and was a wonderful artist. More than anything else, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her large and loving family. We would like to pass on a special thank you to Palliative Care Nurse Debbie Williams, the Chemo clinic staff, VON nurses and Dr. Thana and his staff for never giving up. In lieu of flowers, we would like to ask that donations be made, in Verna’s name, to the Canadian Cancer society. A celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
