Obituary of Marilyn Dean Crowell

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Crowell, Marilyn Dean - After a short illness, the world lost a beloved mother, grandmother and friend Marilyn Crowell on July 6, 2023. Born in Toronto, she became a Nova Scotian in the early 1960's. Marilyn was an accomplished singer, performing with the Trinity United Church choir and the Trinitarians. In her youth, her claim to fame was that she was the best yo-yoer and jacks player on the block. Her favourite place was in the kitchen where she not only passed on her love of cooking and baking to her children but also her grandchildren which will be passed on through generations yet to come. After raising her family, she started her career at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Dartmouth. Following our move to Pictou County, she worked at Tibbett's Paints then moved on to the Empire Group to finish her working career. Marilyn was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined, she became a resident of the Valley View Villa. She loved everything about her new friends and home. We the family of Marilyn are so grateful to the staff for the love and respect bestowed to our mother during her stay. Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Chuck (Darlene), Jackie (John), Darlene, David, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence (Barrett) and Harry Jackson and great grandson Curtis. Friends are invited to say goodbye to Marilyn at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, 18 Acadia Avenue, Stellarton, NS on Tuesday July 11, 2023 between the hours of 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, the SPCA, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Valley View Villa, Riverton. angusfuneralhomes.com
