Obituary of Daniel Harvey MacIntosh

Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Harvey MacIntosh left us May 19, 2023, to rejoin the late Alice Margaret (Fitt), his beloved wife of 62 years. Dad was a wonderful, loving father to his five sons and their partners, his “five jewels”: Dan (Roberta McIntee) Ottawa, David (Tracy Grant) Stellarton, Ed (Debbie) Waterloo, Rick (Heather) Lower Sackville, and Brian (Cathie) Stellarton and adored his 9 grandchildren, for whom he always had “the keys to the world,” 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews Born in Greenvale, Nova Scotia on November 2, 1938, he was predeceased by his parents Finlay and Sarah Elizabeth (“S.E.”) (Mitchell) MacIntosh, a granddaughter Caitlyn Sarah, brother James and brother-in-law Roy Murray. He is survived by his siblings Phyllis Murray, Wayne (Brenda), Brian (Cindy), and sister-in-law Marg. Dad was hardworking and loyal. He joined Vee-Eight Motors in 1955 and remained with the business his entire working life. While there, he met his Alice, who was a waitress at the Norfolk Hotel, just across the street. He took up bowling in Vee-Eight's upstairs bowling alley and remained an avid bowler well into his 70s. In his youth, he also drove taxi part time. They lived on Cambey Ave. in Stellarton for 60 years and Dad was always available to assist a neighbour or any of his many lifelong friends. He and Mom were avid campers, enjoying their summers at Harbour Lights Campground where they entertained often. Dad also had a wonderful sense of humour, and enjoyed sports, from playing lob-ball with his sons (Let’s go Novas!), to one of his favourite activities – gleefully watching the Leafs lose for all these many years. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to daughter-in-law Debbie MacIntosh and the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital for their dedication and care for Dad in his last days. Family will receive friends at H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home 18 Acadia Ave, Stellarton on Wednesday May 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p,m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated with Father Paul Abbass officiating, and Dan’s son Deacon Ed assisting, at 11 am on Thursday May 25 in Holy Name Church, Westville. Burial will be immediately after the mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name Parish or a charity of one’s choice.
