Obituary of Doug Sinnis

John George Douglas (Doug) Sinnis, 93, of Riverton, passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2023. Doug was born in New Glasgow to the late George Wood Sinnis and Elsie Maude Greene on January 5, 1930. He was predeceased by his wife Mabel (Culton) Sinnis; stepchildren, Sharon Breene, Bernard Greene and Ricky Greene; siblings Helen Michaud, Elmer McGrath, Jean Fraser, Gerald Sinnis and Eva MacLeod. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jean MacDonald Greene Sinnis; children, Beth (Larry) McKenna, Joan (Chris) DeLong, Carol (Mark) Sinnis, George Sinnis; stepchildren, Carol (Jim) Mills, Donna (Arnold) Jordan, Stephen (Rosanna) Greene; as well as his nieces, nephews, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was a member of the Christ Anglican Church and attended the Trenton Church of the Nazarene. He also served as a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. Doug worked for Nova Scotia Power for over 30 years and retired at age 60. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Abercrombie and Glen Lovat. In recent years, he enjoyed playing with his friends Peter, Gordon and Albert and was able to get in a round or two a week until August of 2022. He was very interested in genealogy. A member of the Pictou County Genealogy Society and spent many active years doing research and work. Our family would like to give our sincere thanks to Dr. Shiuakumar and his nurse Kaitlin, Dr. Kwaśnik, Debbie Campbell, and the amazing Palliative care team at the Aberdeen Hospital for the compassion and care provided. We would also like to thank all the staff at Valley View Villa for taking such good care of both Jean and Doug. Also a special thank you to Doctor Kirk and nurse Nancy.
