I’m very sorry for your loss. Doug helped me via email in the early 2000s with my husband’s grandfather’s genealogy (Manuel Wood from Pictou). I was delighted to reconnect with him again in 2022. He was so kind, such a gentleman, so patient with my many questions, and helped us a great deal. I’m thankful that I may pay my respects here, and I will continue to pray for your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Doug at the Abercrombie Golf ⛳ Course many times with my husband Mike. He was a true gentleman and would listen to you with admiration and love. He will be missed by many that have/had come to know him

My recollections of Doug come from 1987 when I spent my summer working in his domain, the storeroom of the Trenton Generating Station.
I learned quickly that Doug was a man of routines and precision. Twice a day tea was made from a kettle boiling over on the shelf above the desk where I sat. CBC Radio played constantly in the background. From my desk I could hear the conversations from the storeroom front desk where Doug kept watch over the plant inventory. He knew everyone and treated all as equals. His good humour and ready ear meant he was the first to know of happenings across the plant site.
It was a great summer, one I look back upon fondly.

Although I never met Doug., he helped me throughout the years with genealogy by email and on genealogy sites. He helped me find information on my MacKenzie line through a Coulton name in the family Bible. Such a knowledgable man when it came to genealogy.

Sincere sympathy to all of Doug's family, especially to Jean, Carol, Donna and Stephen, who were our neighbours growing up in East River St. Mary's. When our Mom, Sara Cunningham, was in Valley View Villa; Doug visited her and left some ancestry information. I still have it as part of my collections of family history and always thought it was so kind of him to share his.
