Obituary of Donald Vincent MacLean

Donald Vincent “Ducky” MacLean – Stellarton, NS On July 14th , 2022, just six months short of his 90th birthday, Ducky MacLean passed away with his family by his side. He was funny, faithful, kind, and generous. Da was a family man, a barber, an athlete and a loyal friend. (Also, an unapologetic Detroit fan) Left to miss him and mourn his loss are wife of 67 years, Viola (Sloan), daughters; Laure (Frank) Buckles and their children Brad (Sara) and Brent and (Jodie), plus great grandchildren Layla and Livia Buckles; Paem MacLean- MacKay (John) and their children Delaney and Rainer. Sons, Ray MacLean (Krissy) and their children Keegan, Allie and Maggie; and Lee MacLean and his children Taya and Jace. Also, Jessie MacNeil, our special cousin/sister. Predeceased by siblings Joe, Dave (Sonny), Jack, Marion Collins, Isabel Power and Kaye MacDonald. Survived by Bob, Harvey and Betty Flavin. Also Survived by in- laws; Darla, Pat, Doris and Roddie, as well as Doris Sloan; predeceased by Frank Collins, Albert Power, Laura MacLean, and his best friend and brother-in-law Jim MacDonald. Special nephews, Allan and Bonnie MacLean and Sandy MacDonald created a lifelong friendship with Da, both on and off the golf course. Da was the best of humanity; a humble, gentle man, never expecting reward or praise. His devout, through quietly practiced faith, and his warm spirit will live on in everyone who knew him. Our family would like to thank Jim and Jane Day for their neighbourly kindness over the years, and a special thanks to nurse’s Brittney and Lisa for their compassionate care, as well the Physicians who cared for Ducky. There will be no visitation by request. Private family funeral mass and burial will be held.
