Mary and Nelson Ferguson send their condolences to the family of Joyce Dean. When Nelson arrived in Canada in 1948, Joyce was the first teenager he met. She lived across yard from Nelson's Aunt Winnie. Joyce's Mum and Dad were an extremely valuable support To Winnie. Naturally, Joyce and Nelson became good friends, and that friendship lasted throughout the years.
When we made our many visits to Riverton, to visit family members, we would frequently meet and chat with Joyce. She was thought of as a member of the Macpherson family.

So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was such a lovely lady. I had the honour of being on the MacLeod SAC committee with her. We had a lot of laughs. She was kind and funny.

Joyce was a wonderful person and an excellent worker. She worked for my father the late Cecil Brown who owned Dale Motors when it was in Stellarton. She also was a very good cook and I remember when my parents had an anniversary she catered to it.

Paul, Mark & Karla..... I was so very sorry & saddened to hear that Joyce has passed. She was such a beautiful caring lady and over the years we had many wonderful visits and talks, often about our shared interest in our George family history. (My mom Mabel was a sister to her dad.) Joyce was a such a wealth of knowledge and so eager to share family information and photos with me. My heart goes out to you all in your time of sorrow.
