Marguerite Thompson Campbell 1923 - 2021 Marguerite Campbell passed away on November 23, 2021, age 98, in New Glasgow NS. Marguerite was born June 21,1923 in Glencoe, Pictou County, the sixth of Archie and Sadie Thompson’s eight children. Predeceased by husband Lloyd Campbell in 1979, and by her six brothers: James (Alice), Grant (Anna Mae), Hattie (Christine), Wallace (killed in action WWII, 1943), Lawrence (Margaret) and Jack. Peerless mother to June (Jack Countryman), Doug (Glenda), Don (Donna) and Barry (Kim Dickson), beloved grandmother to Dan, Drew, Jenny [deceased, 2017], Ben, Ally, Matthew, Sarah and Darcy, and great-grandmother to Alexa, Lea, Nora and Violet. Marguerite is also survived by her sister Violet Roy and many nieces and nephews. Our Mum lived a life of quiet grace and dignity, in which love and devotion to family was central. She was a member of Trinity United Church, where she was very active in the UCW for many years. She worked as office manager at J&J Proudfoot, retiring in 1988. Bookkeeper by trade, historian by inclination, early environmentalist, athlete, loyal Leafs and Blue Jays fan, gardener, nature-lover, avid follower of politics, amazing baker . . . each Christmas and birthday she mailed individually wrapped shortbread to those of us who lived away, while those close by could enjoy glorious treats on every visit. Mum had the tremendous gift of being fully present, kind and loving with each and every family member, most especially with her grandchildren. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. Mary Elizabeth Frye Thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Glen Haven Manor, where Marguerite resided since 2018. Visitation at H.W.
