Thank you, Joe for being such a kind and caring person. You made my aging mother so happy when you gave her the ride of her life, boosting her up into the front cab of your big rig and driving her to Truro and back.
You are being missed. I pray you are at peace.
God bless you, Gennoe family, for sharing your husband, brother, father, grandfather, in-law and uncle with all of us.

Cathy and I (Jim) would like to express our sincere condolences to Phyllis and family on the death of Joe, a complete and unexpected surprise to both of us.I remember Joe initially from visits to Dad's O.K.Bakery; Dad and Joe were always the best of friends although owning competing business's; so much so that they joined their bakeries several years before Dad retired and then Joe hired Dad to bake the fruit cakes for a few more years every Fall. I enjoyed my discussions with Joe especially in later years at McDonald's. Joe always liked to discuss many topics not the least of which was politics. He was a successful businessman as proven by continuing to grow Gennoe's bakery and then the way in which he built up the bakery supply business. He also was a very successful mayor of Stellarton which I believe he excelled at and improved the town's success with the development of the business park. I know he will be missed by family and many friends but his memories will always be in your hearts. I was proud to have know Joe.

Our sincere sympathy to Phyllis, Belinda, Doug, Kayla, Tanya and all of Joe's family. You have lost a dear Dad,and Grandpa and a wonderful husband. Joe was one of the smartest business people that I have ever met.He helped my father and I a great deal in the late 70's when we were setting up the bakery at the Green Thumb, which is still going strong today. He stayed a small businessman at heart, even when his business empire had grown large, under his careful guidance. Joe's entry into Municipal politics preceded myself by about 2 years and he was always very helpful with some sage advice, with the main caveat being "as long as it helps Stellarton". May God be with you all and remember all the great times you had together and the valuable lessons he taught you. Sincerely, Robert and Colleen Parker

Dear Gennoe Family,
My deepest condolences to you all on your loss. I’ve so many happy memories growing up beside the bakery (cake tops with frosting, raspberry puffed pastry and the smell of fresh baked bread) Joe taking me for motorcycle rides, on your boat and pretty sure a plane ride or 2 plus skating behind the bakery. A special community, business and family man!

RIP my friend. It was an honor to have lived next door to you. As neighbors we all became family more so than friends. From mentoring me as a young man giving me the opportunity to work for you I will always be grateful for. You taught me how to bake and took me under your wings. It you didn't drive us to school on raining days or wintery conditions you took us out on your boat or took us up in your plane. My friend you will be truly missed. Heaven has gained a special person. Fly high my friend above the clouds as you have gained your wings. My thoughts and prayers goes out to Phyllis, Jo-Ann, Marie, Belinda, James, and Millie.
