WAYTE, Janet “Heather” - Age 80, of New Glasgow. It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Heather in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on Thursday, January 14, 2021 following a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Howard & Eileen (Tibbetts) MacKay. She was an avid reader, as well as a crossword puzzle and Sudoku fanatic. She will be sadly missed by her sister Linda (Lynden) of Calgary, Alberta and by her loving sons Kevin (Kyle) of Cole Harbour and Jason (Gail) of New Glasgow, grandson Ethan and granddaughter Ivy, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Donald in May 2018. The family extends special thanks to the VON and to the staff in the palliative care unit at the Aberdeen for their kind and compassionate care of Heather. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
