We share our deep love and sincere condolences to the Aikens and extended family. Our hearts are with you as you grieve and cherish the memories of your wonderful mom, grandma, aunt, friend....Doris and Mel are very special to us. Always taking an interest in our lives , our kids and encouraging us! Doris always remembered special things and always brought wisdom and wit to every conversation! She spoiled Tim for years with her scotch cookies and pies!!! Nothing compared! When I (michelle) visited her and Mel last year she inquired who.might be baking scotch cookies for him in Alberta... too funny.. noone beats hers! We love you Doris... thinking of you all

We are thinking of the Aikens and extended family at this time. We know and have experienced the faith of Doris Aikens. A great example of the power of God and grace. I quote the scripture
Romans 14:8.
For if we live, we live in the Lord and if we die, we die in the Lord. So then whether we live or whether we die, WE ARE THE LORDS.
In our prayers

It is most difficult to put into words what defines a great lady like Aunt Doris. She was the momma and Aunt Tubby, Francis Dykens, was the big sister to their baby sister Margie and thier brothers Donnie, Jimmie and Ernie. The steadfast and never ending love exemplified in this family was a pattern lived out in the meekness, sweetness and strength of Aunt Doris. Each generation of our family has been forever impacted by her, as well as those fortunate enough to be within the reach of her generosity. She spoke more grace with that smile than many speak with words in a lifetime. We are thankful that the Lord placed in her what she would need to be the likelness of Christ to each of us.
Much love to Uncle Mel and my cousins and much thanks for sharing her and for continuing that same legacy.

Doris was the sweetest person I have ever known. Only one person came before her family and that was God!
The Bible says that if just one cup of water is given in His name, it is as though you've done it unto Him. Doris has poured out many cups of water throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed but heaven will be sweeter when she arrives there.
Much love,
Jeannie and Family

Herb and I and our family are sending much love to you all. What a beautifully written tribute to a woman who was so much loved. We are sending special hugs to family members we know - her daughter Alice Mattatall (Kevin) and nieces Alice Mattatall (Ian) and Kim Aikens-Conley. I didn't realize you all were so closely related (hope I have this correct). Know that we are thinking of you as you lay your loved one to rest and celebrate her life.
