Obituary of John James Wood

John James Wood 1926 – 2020 John James Wood, age 93, passed peacefully on Sunday Sept.20th 2020 at Valley View Villa. Born in Eden Lake on Dec. 26, 1926 son of the late George and Jean Wood. John is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Barbara (Cameron) and lived in Eden Lake all their lives; sister Eunice, New Glasgow; sons Jack (Linda), New Glasgow, Jim (Debbie) Eden Lake and daughter Brenda (Fred), MacPherson's Mills and his Grandchildren Darryl (Sarah) New Glasgow, Derek (Suzanne) Waterloo, Ont. Blair (Shannon) Calgary, Alb. Craig (Ryan) Windsor, Ont, Cindy (Justin) Los Angeles, USA. Great Grandchildren, Joshua, Jackson, Gracie, Livie, Zakk, Kale, Iris, Eden and Nova. John started work at an early age in forestry with his best friend George MacDonald and that friendship lasted until his death. He was a surveyor for the Department of Highways the majority of his life and retired to concentrate on his real passion - growing Christmas Trees, wild blueberries and being outside working on his land. Took great pride in keeping a well manicured lawn and surroundings at his home in Eden Lake. John was a faithful member of the Blair Presbyterian Church in Garden of Eden, enjoyed playing cards and was an active supporter of his community. He was predeceased by his sister Myrtle (Watson), New Glasgow. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 the family has decided to have a private funeral with only immediate family. Burial to follow in the Garden of Eden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blair Presbyterian Church, Garden of Eden c/o 3649 Sunny Brae Eden Road, Eden Lake, NS B2H 5C8.
