She played a key role in the start-up and subsequent running of the business which has continued to grow under family operation and ownership into the third generation. Margaret ran a “tight ship” as Office Manager with swift attention to detail ensuring operations ran smoothly. Margaret had many interests and talents which she enjoyed throughout her working years and in retirement. She and Hugh enjoyed vegetable gardening and maintained beautiful flower gardens on their property, where over the years they hosted many wedding parties for photos. As an avid gardener, and past member of the Westville Garden Club, Margaret was generous with her passion and vast knowledge of flowers and gardening. Margaret was also a skilled hand quilter and long-time member of the Northumberland Quilt Guild. She was an active volunteer with the Museum of Industry and enjoyed the friendship of her fellow quilting volunteers. Over the years she created and gifted many beautiful quilts which are treasured by her family and many others who received them. Margaret loved to cook and family enjoyed spending many holiday meals together over the years with her and Hugh. There was always room for one more around the table and you could count on homemade sweets in the cupboard when you dropped in for an evening visit. Grandchildren especially enjoyed spending time at “Papa and Gramma’s” on the weekend and shared in many Saturday lunches together. In most recent years, the arrival of great-grandchildren brought her much joy. Hugh and Margaret enjoyed travelling which took them to various places in Canada, the United States and Europe. They enjoyed taking long country drives in Nova Scotia, on roads less travelled and finding new restaurants to enjoy a meal. Hugh and Margaret have many wonderful memories together over the years. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Gregor MacLean for his ongoing care for Margaret. Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Karen Lynn MacDonald Allergy Awareness Society. Remains will be in care of H.W Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
