Violet Gertrude Fraser age 93, of Sherbrooke, NS passed away Feb. 13, 2020 in High Crest Sherbrooke Nursing Home, Sherbrooke. Born in New Town, Dec. 30, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Cameron) Archibald. Vi graduated from New Town School, New Glasgow High School, Normal College, Truro and St. F.X. University, Antigonish. She taught school in Guysborough County for several years. The joy of her life was her family and her extended family, they were always near to her heart. VI was a member of St. John’s United Church, Sherbrooke, the UCW, Charter member of the Sherbrooke Lioness Club, Florence Fraser Order of The Eastern Star, Sherbrooke Women’s Institute, St. Mary’s Garden Club and many other community organizations. Her work with youth groups and seniors was a very special part of her life. She loved them all. She is survived by 3 sons Donnie (Norah), Chris (Krista), Charles (Maureen) all of Sherbrooke; 7 grandchildren Rachel Fraser (Chris MacDonald), Ian (Marian) Fraser; Aaron (Astra) Fraser, Heidi (Kris) MacDonald, Christopher Fraser (Jane MacDonald), Matthew Fraser, Kelley Fraser (Kara Chisholm), 7 great-grandchildren Braden, Chase, Fraser, Brooklynn, Danica, Charlie Rose and Sophia; sister Edna Fraser, Garden of Eden; brother-in-law George F. MacDonald, Rocky Mountain and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Scott, daughter Darlene and a daughter in infancy, sisters Marie Illsley, Margaret Cleveland, Elsie MacDonald, brothers Hugh, Cecil and Henry Archibald. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 in St. John’s United Church, Sherbrooke from where a memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 with Rev. Derek Elsworth officiating. A reception will follow in the Sherbrooke Lions Club. Private family burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke. Donations in her memory may be made to St. John’s United Church, Sherbrooke.
