I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. What a wonderful man he was. To be a police officer in a small town all of these years and be not only liked, but respected, says so much about him. He was always so kind and showed a genuine interest in others. I’ve been away 25 years now and I’ve thought of him over the years, before I became an RN and I was in my 3rd year at UNB & would travel back to work in Stellarton on the wknds and he would let me know about the road conditions, or what he was up to and always remembered to ask me about school, at that time I was in Law & Society bc the plan was to go in to rcmp, he was very encouraging, it meant so much to me.
God bless him and may God give you all the strength to help you through this time.

Always remember Amby pulling up at the front of Momand Dads house.. we were all having a drink and he came out of the police cruiser and laughed as my Mom panicked at the police coming to their house! Sincere condolences to the Heighton and Ryan families. I recall with fondness an encounter with Amby shortly after he starting working for the Stellarton PD - he pulled me over after I failed to come to a complete stop at stop sign in the "Asphalt". Rather than charging me, he instead took the time to chat about how things were going, etc. and let me off with a warning. In this particular instance at least, the most important aspect of policing from Amby's perspective was making a connection.

I am so sorry to hear of Amby's passing. I worked at the Holiday Inn Express Stellarton and he would always stop in on busy weekend nights to check on us. He was such a friendly man. He will be greatly missed.
