Obituary of William Gordon Cameron

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of their dad on January 9th, 2025 at Highcrest Nursing Home in Sherbrooke at the age of 88. Bill was born in Goldenville on April 9th, 1936. He was the son of the late William and Mae Cameron (O'Hara) Bill was a resident of Denver, Guysborough County for 49 years and lived the last 4 years at Highcrest Home in Sherbrooke. He started working at a young age with his father in the woods, and then later became a truck driver who travelled across Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Working for many trucking companies and logging contractors over the years, Dad's last employment was with L & E Contracting Ltd and Archibald's Dairy Farm. During Dad's livelihood he always had a passion for horses, upon his retirement, he continued on with his passion for horses. Bill is survived by daughters Kim, Plymouth; Karen, New Glasgow; Kathi, Kingston, Ontario; Tracy (Tommy) Antigonish; sons Billy (Jackie), Ontario; John (Lynn), Riverton; Craig (Angie), Lochaber; grandchildren Cara, Lindsey, Adrienne, Jakob, Brittany, Sadie, Isla, and Taylor; great-granddaughter Lilah. Bill was predeceased by his parents William and Mae Cameron, son Scott, brothers Daniel (in Infancy) and Hughie.; sisters Theresa, Martha and Laura. There will be no visitation as per request, Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th at 2 pm in Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen with Derek Elsworth officiating. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA or Charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of H W Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. The family would like to thank the staff at Highcrest Nursing Home, Sherbrooke for the exceptional compassion and care given to Dad over the past 4 years.
