Gary was a lifelong friend of my fathers as they grew up in New Glasgow. Because of this he became known affectionately to my sisters and I as “Uncle Gary” and we always looked forward to the annually honey bucket he would bring on a visit to our house which he helped my father build many moons ago. This tradition continued for us all as we moved out on our own… there was always a honey bucket reserved for the Soosaar girls! He had a very kind heart a love of nature and always an interest in what was new with you. I could always see why my dad and him were such close friends. He is deeply missed, we are so sorry to hear of his passing.

Gary was teaching at New Glasgow Jr High when I was in grade 8. One of the female teachers found our class hard to handle and she used to get Gary to come in and tell us to settle down. He always had a smile on his face when he did this. A lovely man - very sorry to hear of his death at such a young age.

Dear Colette and family,
There are no words during these challenging times.
We hope you can find comfort in the following.
Remembrances
We cannot feel saddened over the loss of those we love without first remembering the joy of loving them.
The real sadness would have been never having had them in our lives at all.
Remembering is a journey the heart takes, back into a time that was, and our thoughts are the only tickets needed to ride.
We who have truly loved are blessed.
Remember everything …❤️
Sincere Condolences,
Linda, Dominique, Harrison Rene and Muna

Dear Debbie & Luke:
David joins me in our heartfelt sympathy to you both with the loss of your dear Gary. Gary’s passing has brought the following reflections to my mind which I wish to share with you in the passage which follows.
There are gifts in life and moments in time which remain in our hearts and spirit always. Such has been the kindness and love shown by the Baudoux family to me since the age of four. A beloved friendship with my dear friend Debbie and knowing her brother Gary are embedded in my being.
Debbie and Gary were devoted and supportive siblings loving and kind to one another. They were alike in heart and mind. Their bond was unbreakable and an example to us all.
Gary was a gifted educator and inspired the lives of those within his classroom and beyond. However, the child he influenced the most was his beloved and adored nephew Luke. They loved one another dearly. Luke listened and learned and followed Gary as his role model. This mentorship has inspired Dr. Luke to be the compassionate and honourable person he is today.
Gary’s faith was strong, but private. He was truly a “servant leader” who uplifted humanity. In Gary’s life and time with us we were given a special gift. Gary influenced all in the very best way and left those who knew him with his indelible spirit.
Love and Blessings, Anne

You never forget a great teacher. Mr. Baudoux was that and so much more. He was a kind and very patient teacher who showed passion for his lessons each and every day. He chose such interesting and gripping short novels for his students to read and study. I never forgot “ Death On the Ice” A true and tragic tale of Newfoundland’s seal industry from 1914. He had a way of presenting Greek Mythology as almost believable!!
As well, Mr. Baudoux was a true gentleman.
My deepest condolences to his family from a former student at Stellarton Junior High (1978-1980)

Dear Colette and family,
On behalf of myself, my sons Evan and Stephen and my mom, Ruby, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences on Gary’s passing.
Though we only knew Gary from the cottage, his warmth, generosity, and passion for life were evident in our every interaction.
We will each always fondly remember the extraordinary garlic he grew and so generously shared with us. Some of it even made its way back to Alberta, where it became a cherished part of our family meals in the short time it lasted! His kindness and the care he put into his gardening was so very obvious and his sharing truly left a lasting impression.
Please know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Gary will be remembered fondly by each of us.
Linda, Evan, Stephen and Ruby

My deepest condolences to Gary's family. I knew him from Meals on Wheels when he would deliver to Mum's (Annie Sample). He always had a smile and always took the time for a "little" chat. Plus sometimes he would have a little gift. Might be some candy or for Valentines day,it might be a carnation or two. Little things like that meant a lot to Mum (and to myself).

Mr.Baudoux,( while in school) and in my later years after school if we met, Id still refer to l him as Mr. Baudoux. He'd raise his eyebrow with alttle smile and say"you can call me Gary Barb"It was at that moment he made me feel like an adult.Especially when on one occasion as all of Pictou County was supporting George Canyons journey on Nashville Star,I saw him at the lounge with drink in hand and I as well. I felt I was disrespecting ,but onnce again I got the eyebrows and smile" letting me know we both adults and yes a teacher was a real person and could be at at a barMr.Baudoux was a very kind, simple, caming, sincere respectful and in every sense of the word a man.He was the first teacher to teach me just not to sing along with the music but to really listen and understand the meaning of the song. For example Joni Mitchell song"They paved Paradise" From that day to now and forever I'll always think of Mr.Baudoux. Trying to slow this crazy world down and enjoy the simple things in life. You taught me more than you'll ever know Mr.Baudoux. Thank you, rest in peace and enjoy your ride in that "big yellow taxi" Gary

Gary's passing prompts a flood of memories of happy times: fishing on the Miramichi, St. Mary's and East Rivers, canal boating in Ireland, his mentorship with our maple syrup, searching for bargains, and endless practical jokes, stimulating conversations and meals together.
Gary touched many lives and will be remembered with sadness and respect.

Colette and all of Gary’s family, I am so sorry for your loss. When I would call for Colette, he was also so nice on the phone. When I had trouble with bees at my home he came and gave me sage advice as what I should do. Always was thankful to him for that, which worked. “ Mr Baudoux “ was always listed as a favourite teacher with my kids. May memories of a life well lived support you in the future.

I was so sorry to read of the passing of Mr. Baudoux. I was a student of his in Grade 7, at Stellarton Jr/Sr High School. He was teaching English - and what I recall most about him was that he introduced our class to Joni Mitchell. We studied "Big Yellow Taxi" as a poem, and only after we had been through it and discussed it did he introduce us to the song, and teach us a bit about Joni Mitchell herself. Obviously he made a lasting impression, as this would have been in 1974/1975 - exactly 50 years ago. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
