Barbara Sproull posted a condolence

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to Sarah's family and to her Community, for they have lost a very special member.
Although I first met Sarah when we were younger, it was only in later years that I came to know her through my own Aunt, Muriel Sproull, as they were friends. Through Sarah’s activities in her community, as well as my visits to her home, I became aware, and was in awe, of her deep ancestral knowledge and her great love for the children. Always welcomed with her quiet smile and invitation to come sit, her focus was always on the children, telling me of the older ones’ activities and how quickly the younger ones were growing. She was so very proud of each and every one of them, and as her illness progressed, worried that a time would come when she could physically no longer watch over them.
Sarah will always be remembered for her great strength, her deep knowledge of the ways of her people, for her leadership, and for her beautiful smile, and her humble and quiet manner. It was my privilege and honour, to have known her.

To Sarah's family,
I was so sorry to hear about Sarah's death. I knew her when she was with our community. In fact she and I had a vacation together.....traveling to Truro and then spending time in Kentville. We had a great time, a few laughs were part of the time together. I regret that I have not seen her for a long time. The memory of her presence in my life was a blessed one.
To you her family I offer you my prayers as you grieve the loss of someone you loved and who loved you.
In Prayer

To the family of Sarah Francis: We are very sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one, Sarah. We know she was a gentle and humble Lady, who was very proud of her Indigenous heritage and was committed to sharing that wonderful heritage with many. We are blessed to have had her as one of the Associates of the Sisters of St. Martha. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. May Sarah rest in the peace of our Lord.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Sarah Francis. Back in the early 1980's we lived in the same community of the Sisters of St Martha, in Dominion, Cape Breton. I appreciated her good common sense and ready smiles. May your memories of this good woman bring you comfort.
Sincerely,
Sister Josephine MacLellan

I always loved when I went to Ceremony and there would be Sadie and Rose Little. I remember her sharing a special event from her childhood that happened on the island. All the children were lined up and all the adults told each child what they loved about them and how special they were. She said as a child, it made her feel so wanted and loved by the community. We talked of how that is something that is so needed.
I remember great visits at her house. So many special moments that I will always treasure

Q: How did you meet Sarah?
A: I met her in the Chris the King church in Trenton! She had a quiet strength about her and was I think a nun for her parish! Lovely person! Rest peacefully!
