Obituary of Sharon May Forward
Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Sharon passed peacefully away with her family by her side on June 14th, 2024 at the age of 81.
Sharon was born on November 30th, 1942 to the late Joseph and Isabel Burt. She grew up in Westville, eventually meeting her husband Victor, with whom she spent 60 wonderful years.
Together they moved to Toronto to start their careers, eventually returning to Pictou County to settle down and raise their children.
Mom was everyone’s favourite person to be around. She had the best sense of humor, always cracking a joke and trying to make you laugh. We never once saw her in a bad mood. She loved her family more than anything and looked forward to our many family gatherings, especially our annual Canada Day celebrations. She enjoyed many family vacations including a special trip to Newfoundland to reconnect with her family roots, shopping trips to the U.S, baking, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and fishing. She was an avid sports fan, always tuning in to whatever sports event was on T.V.
“Grammy” was the name she loved hearing the best! She was immensely proud of all her grandchildren and supported them in everything they did. As their biggest cheerleader, she attended numerous sports games, graduations, birthdays and many other milestones.
Sharon enjoyed a fulfilling career of over 20 years at Michelin, where she met 3 of her greatest friends, Anna, June and Grace. This fabulous four went on to have a friendship of over 50 years, still gathering to play cards as recently as last week.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband; Victor, her children; Shawna (Mark) Woodin, Scott (Kim) and Krista (Wade) Carter, grandchildren; Sydney, Zachery, Logan, Hudson, Mason and Kelsi, great-grandchildren; Dalton, Rayna, Ethan and Marley.
She is survived by sisters-in-law; Frances Burt, Donna Fitzgerald, Jean Forrest, Marion Forward, Lillian O’Hearn (Mick), Marilyn Croak (Dave), Art Forward, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sharon is the last surviving member of her immediate family; predeceased by brothers Adam and William (Bill). She is also predeceased by parents-in-law, Dawe and Laura Forward, sister’s-in-law; Doris (Victor) MacDonald, Lyda (George) Reynolds, Aileen (Fraser) MacPherson, Dorothy Forward; brothers-in-law, Charles Forward, Gordon Forward, George Forward and Raymond Fitzgerald and great-granddaughter, Remi Rose Carter.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the many healthcare providers who aided our mother over the last several years. Specifically, Dr. Rivera and Donna Macdonald from the Westville Medical Clinic, Pharmacist Sue Rankin and staff at Lawtons in Westville, Palliative Care Coordinator; Debbie Williams and the paramedics Ray and Richard who helped us comfort mom in her last hours.
