Pictou Landing First Nation - With Heavy Hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Sarah (Francis) Clark. Who passed away peacefully at home on June 3rd 2024 . Born in New Glasgow on April 17th 1956, she was the oldest daughter of the late Louis Joseph and Ruby Irene (Knockwood) Francis. Sarah was born in New Glasgow, a lifelong community member of Pictou Landing First Nation, who spent many of her early years working and living in the United States where she met and married the love of her life Walter. They lived in Athol, Mass for 3 years, where they raised their blended family of 5. Sarah soon returned to Mi’kma’ki in 1993. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. She took pride in contributing to bringing the pow-wow back to the community, working with the youth at NNEC as the student support worker. She was most proud to have positively impacted so many lives while working on addictions and mental health programs in the community. Sarah enjoyed being outdoors, the smell of fresh lilacs in the air, you could always find her around a campfire or strolling on the beach. Surviving are her children, best friend & youngest daughter, Samantha, son-in-law Matt; Daughters Tarah (Massachusetts) and Mary (Arizona); Sons, Harry (Oregon) and Phillip (New Hampshire). Grandchildren; Charles, Maggie, Savanna, Kayla, Katie-Mae, Alex, Warren, Gregory, Zachary, Izzy, and 3 great-grandchildren. Chosen sisters; Darlene Maclean and Darlene Arseneau; Chosen daughters, Tonya, Michelle, Kelly, Tina, Melissa, Destiny, and Liz. Sarah enjoyed waking up each morning and being greeted by her great great nephew Braven. She loved her family very deeply and was a big part of the lives of all her nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her parents, husband Walter Clark, brothers: Douglas, Matthew, Wilfred, Gerald, Joseph, Kenneth, Noel, Larry, and Peter, also a brother in infancy and her dear sisters Brenda and Margaret. Her remains will rest at the home of her daughter, on the land where the Francis family was raised. 11 Rose Ave, Pictou Landing First Nation, for open visitation Saturday Afternoon until Funeral mass, which will be held on Monday, June 10th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sarah’s Palliative Care team Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery followed by a gathering with a meal and Salite’ Online condolences may be sent at www.angusfuneralhomes.com
