Obituary of Bruce Allan Mackintosh
Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Bruce Mackintosh, 85, of Stellarton, NS. Born in Dartmouth, NS, to LCdr James Francis (Frank) and Marion Mackintosh (Hirtle), Bruce was a member of a large military family. Following in the footsteps of his father and older siblings, he entered the Navy in 1956 and served until 1979. He then embarked on a new career with Sears Canada until his retirement.
Bruce was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He would have your back at any given time and always made sure you were well-protected. He fiercely guarded his clan. An avid lover of sports, whether he was playing, coaching, or watching from the sidelines, it was a strong passion of his. And when it came to his favorite sport, hockey, the Montreal Canadiens were his team. From hats to jackets to memorabilia, it was obvious he was a long-standing fan from a very early age.
From a small child all the way into his latter years, Bruce was also a film buff who loved his old Westerns and war movies. He would sit and watch them for hours on end, especially when it came to his favorite actor, John Wayne. He was definitely a longtime fan of "The Duke."
Bruce is survived by his sons Rick (Lorraine), Bruce Jr., Frank (Melissa), and siblings Patsy, Mary, Bobby, Gage, and Brenda, as well as his grandchildren Cameron, Aaron, Erica, and Abby.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Veneta Mackintosh (Works) and siblings Kay, Russell, Frank, Lorraine, Trudy, Dave, and Michael.
A special thanks to the team at Glen Haven Manor who provided love and attention to Dad during his stay there, as well as the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital. Our family is forever grateful.
There will be no service at this time, but a Celebration Of Life will be announced at a later date. Bruce's ashes will be brought to sea near his father, as he has always wanted.
