Obituary of Katherine Marie Spears

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Spears, Katherine Marie- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Kathrine Marie Spears announces her passing at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. Katherine passed peacefully with those whom she loved dearly surrounding her. Born on May 2nd, 1958 to the late Vincent and Phyllis (Totten) Dwyer, Kay was one of five children. Kay was a loving mother to her sons Patrick (Cheryl) Dwyer and Chad (Morgan) Spears, sister to the late Mary (Joe) Levangie, the late Lorraine (Steven) Langley, Loretta (Mal) Brooker and Ronald (Gena) Dwyer. She was an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and a friend to many. However, her favorite title was “Grammie” (or Gaga) to Madison and McKenzie as well as her bonus grandchildren Hayley, Colby and Alanna. Kay loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Despite her health, she travelled across the country multiple times to spend time with her son Chad, his wife Morgan and their (at the time) newborn twins. She even got to fulfill a dream and road trip across the country from Alberta to Nova Scotia when Chad moved back to the province. She cherished visits from her oldest son, Patrick, when he would come home from working away. Kay loved crafting and tried her hand at just about everything. She was very successful at her latest venture of woodworking projects, and it was something she and Chad enjoyed together. When she wasn’t spending time with family, she enjoyed having a glass of wine on the deck with some of her neighbours. No matter what Kay needed, her neighbours were always there for her. From homecooked meals to grocery pickups to shoveling, she was always well taken care of. To her they were family. The family would like to extend a sincere heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at the Ivey Terrace. By personal request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery on Tuesday, April 9th at 11:00am followed by a reception. Details on the reception to follow. Donations in Kay’s honor can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. angusfuneralhomes.com
