Obituary of Honorable Judge Robert Allan Stroud
Please share a memory of Honorable Judge Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The Honorable Judge Robert Allan Stroud passed to be with our Lord, peacefully and surrounded by family, on February 17, 2024, at the age of 85. Robert (Bob) is survived by Helen (MacLeod), his loving wife of 64 years, sons Tom (Sue), Mark (Angela), Brian, and Darren (Olivia), and Bob’s sister Vona (Art).
Bob was born and raised in Stellarton, Nova Scotia and proud grandfather to grandchildren: Robert, Morghen, Anne, Mason, Abbey, Charlotte, Chloe, Brett, Kate, and Sam. Bob is predeceased by parents Muriel and Bill, and grandson Bobby (Robert).
Bob attended Stellarton High School, where he was known as a star hockey and rugby player. Following high school Bob went on to Mount Allison University where he obtained his Commerce degree and played on the varsity football team. After graduation, Bob went to work for the Bank of Nova Scotia while completing his Certified General Accountant designation. He then went on to Dalhousie University where he earned his Law degree. He was called to the Bar in 1970.
Bob was a member of the Queens Council and later appointed Judge of the Provincial Court in 1986.
Always one to value education, after being appointed to the bench, he later went on to earn his Masters of Law from Dalhousie University in 2014.
A Stellarton boy at heart, Bob was committed to his community. He served as town councillor, was an active member of the Lions Club and Stellarton Minor Hockey - where he served as both a coach and president.
As an entrepreneur, Bob positively impacted the community with his involvement in local businesses. He also strongly encouraged and championed his sons’ business interests.
Summers were always spent at Caribou Island with family and friends. It was Bob’s favourite place to walk on the beach and take the occasional swim with the kids.
In recent years, Bob would be frequently seen in his regular seat during Crushers games.
Although he will be greatly missed, we are proud and thankful for having him in our lives for all of these years.
