Obituary of Lawrence Joseph Herney

Lawrence Joseph Herney It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our Rock, Our Father, Our Papa, brother and friend Lawrence (Sinzer) Joseph Herney, 68 of Fisher’s Grant (Pictou Landing). He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on February 8, 2024. Born in Eskasoni on September 5, 1955. Lawrence was the oldest child to the late Ralph Julian and the late Irene Herney. Lawrence was predeceased by both parents, godmother Mary Julia Micheal, godfather John T. Johnson. Siblings Noel, Ralmic, David, Debbie, 1 brother and 2 sisters in infancy. Lawrence is survived by Wife Marsha; children Levi (Kylie), Krestan, Jamie (Faith), Mary (Andy), Lawrence Jr. (Kalo), Tiffany, Patrick, Thunder, Kitpu (Brandon), Pikun, Muin (Chelsea), and son by choice Ethan. Grandchildren: Dereksin, Maria, Nala, Piel, Addison, Deacen, Aiden, Levi, Denzil, Llun, Andy Jr., Brenda, Akira, Wompituck, Ocean, Zander, Ira, Emerson, and Daisy. God child: Roy. Siblings: Eileen (Rick), Audie (Wanda), Marie, Rachel, Micheal, Brian and Ralcie Anne. In Lawrence younger days he was a DJ known as P. Funk. He DJ dances every weekend in Eskasoni and surrounding area. After moving to Pictou Landing, he was a lobster fisherman. Lawrence was a well-known traditional Pipe Carrier and Eagle Staff Carrier, who loved traveling to Powwow’s and gatherings throughout the Maritimes. The Herney Family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Cathy Felderhof, who provided exceptional care through out the years for Lawrence. His remains will rest at his home at 60 Eagle Road, Pictou Landing starting at 4pm Wednesday, February 14, 2024, till Friday February 16, 2024 with cremation to follow.
