Obituary of Hazel MacAskill

Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In the early morning of January 13th 2024, Hazel MacAskill passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a short illness. Hazel was born March 8th 1948, to the late Allan MacPherson and Sarah MacPherson (MacDonald). Born and raised in Sydney, NS. She met her husband Peter MacAskill, and married September 7th 1968. They went on to have two children Crystal and Wesley. Being a mother was one of the greatest joys in her life. Later that joy became even more prominent and strong when she became a grandmother and great grandmother. She was the heart of her family, forever and always. Besides spending time with her family and loved ones. Hazel enjoyed baking sweets, playing cards, and chatting up a storm. Boy, did she love to talk to people. She always had a smile on her face, a kind word for you, and if you were lucky enough. A little treat she had baked recently. Hazel is survived by her husband Peter MacAskill, her daughter Crystal MacLean (Donald), son Wesley MacAskill (Lori MacGregor). And her most cherished grandchildren, Kendal MacAskill, Samantha Davis (Harold), Taylor MacLean, Hannah MacAskill, Scott MacAskill, Ethan MacGregor, Sean MacAskill. And her great granddaughter Audrey Hazel Davis. As well as her sisters Mary MacPherson, Carmel Sparling (Dave), Elizabeth MacSween (Allan), Nora MacPherson. Her brothers, Lloyd MacPherson (Helen), Louis MacPherson (Deloras), and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Greta MacPherson, Sarah MacPherson, Eileen Peters (Leo), Syliva Black (Allison), Judy MacAskill (Eric). Her brothers Lawerence MacPherson (Pat) and George MacPherson (Jeannie). Very special and heartfelt thank you to Amanda Aucoin Wilson and Hazel's family who reached out daily. For all their love, support, and prayers during a difficult time. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
