Obituary of Dorothy Anne Morrison

Dorothy Anne Morrison, age 83, of Glenelg, NS, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024 in the St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke with her loving family by her side.
Born in Stillwater, NS, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Winnifred (Whidden) MacDonald. Dorothy had been a resident of Glenelg most of her life where she was a member of Glenelg Presbyterian Church. She was a longtime employee at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sherbrooke. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a strong, independent, and intelligent woman, who loved to garden, cook, sew, knit, and spend time with her family. She loved to learn about genealogy, gardening, and natural health remedies and enjoyed sharing her interests with her children, grandchildren, and great-children.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Berton, Glenelg; children Cindy (Donnie) Myers, Glenelg; Brenda (Kimball) MacLeod, Country Harbour; Marty (Sharon) Cameron, Antigonish; Patty Morrison, Alberta; Sawney (Jennifer) Morrison, MacPherson’s Mills; Leah Morrison (Steven Duggins), Lower Barney’s River; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in law Jessie MacDonald, Glenelg; Marlene MacDonald, Halifax; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence Cameron, sister Audrey MacDonald, brothers John and Billy MacDonald; brother-in-law Grant MacDonald; son-in-law Kimball MacLeod.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday, January 7, in Glenelg Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, at 2pm in Glenelg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Barb Fotheringham and Rev. Derek Elsworth officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
