Obituary of Dolores Mae Francis

Francis, Dolores Mae - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, kiju and friend, Dolores Mae Francis, age 70 of Pictou Landing First Nations, began her journey to the spirit world on Saturday 18th 2023.
Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Alice (Knockwood) Francis.
Dolores was a kind hearted woman with a contagious smile, who love to laughing and was always the life of the party.
Dolores loved the outdoors camping at Maligomish, swimming, walks on the beach, boating, swimming, and loved her sports, and always supporting her family. She was always up for an adventure, she loved to travel, taking photos, meeting new people.
Dolores was a teacher's aide by trade with haven't worked in Shubenacadie school as a pilot project, later again working with youth at East Pictou Rural High School in Sutherlands River and much later in life at Membertou Elementary School in Membertou First Nations. Dolores was also a bus driver for her father's company Francis Bus Service.
Dolores is survived by her three children: Daniel (Margo), Donald and Charlotte Ann all of Pictou Landing, chosen sons: Curtis Michael and Stuart Knockwood both of Sipekne'katik. She is also leaving behind her five beautiful grandchildren: Shawn, Josh (Gabrielle), Alyson, Jody and Summer, chosen grandchildren: Koraleigh and Chaz Christmas of Membertou First Nations, she also adored her precocious great-grandchildren: Aly Rose (baby girl), William, Isabelle, Joshua and Bryce all of Pictou Landing. She is survived by her sisters Linda Francis, Ann Francis-Muise (Donnie), Lynn Francis of Millbrook First Nations; chosen sisters: Elizabeth (Leonard) and Angela (Ashel) Nicholas. brothers: Keptin Donald Francis (Melanee), Allan Francis (Mary), John Andrew (Darlene).
Dolores was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Alice (Knockwood) Francis, brothers, Gilbert Francis, Joseph Dennis Francis, Rodrick Francis, and Randall Francis, sisters Mary Lou Nicholas and Deanna Francis also granddaughter in infancy Chelsea Brooks. Dolores also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, godchildren: Lynn Francis, Jonathan Beadle, Anthony, Nicholas, Rachel Francis.
Her remains will rest at her late residence at 86 Maple Street, Pictou Landing First Nations after 4pm Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Saturday at Out Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nations with Father Tom MacNeil presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
