BONIN, Kathryn “Elaine” (Marshall) – 78, of New Minas, passed away quietly on Saturday, November 11, 2023 in Halifax Hospice, with son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Darlene, and grandkids Jeffery and Amanda, all of Middle Sackville, by her side. Elaine was born to the late Phyllis and Alex Marshall of Greenwood Road, NS. She was also predeceased by her husband, Joe in 2016; and sister, Mora (Bob) MacNeil in 2017. In addition to her son, Scott (Darlene) and grandkids, she is survived her by brother, Bob (Pat) Marshall, nephew, Patrick and niece, Shannon, of Thorburn; brothers, Norman and John Marshall, of New Glasgow; and brother, Fred (Mary) Marshall, and niece, Marie, of Toronto, ON. Elaine graduated from East Pictou Rural High School and moved to Toronto for work. She met and married Joe in Toronto in 1968. They had their son Scott in 1970. The family moved back to Nova Scotia to work at Michelin. Joe worked there for 16 years then went driving trucks, and Elaine retired from Michelin after 32 years of service. For pastimes, Joe and Elaine played cards with her family and made many trips to Toronto to visit family and friends. Elaine knit and read books for years. They belonged to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville for 40 years. Elaine wanted to thank family and friends for any help they provided and a special ‘Thank You’ to neighbors, Sharon Forsythe, Janet Martin and Chris Thorsen for always being there. Also, the family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Halifax Hospice for the exceptional care Elaine received. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Visitation will also be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Interment will take place at a later date in the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Westville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Halifax Hospice.
