Raymond George Hillier Obituary

Raymond George Hillier passed away peacefully November 5, 2023 at the Aberdeen Hospital.

Born in New Glasgow on January 5, 1946, he was raised in Willowdale by the late Robert and Helen (MacDonald) Hillier. Raymond did many jobs thought the years and was an employee of Trenton works for many years. He enjoyed welding and working in cars. Raymond and family shared their love of hunting. They made many memories of deer and moose hunting together. Raymond enjoyed spending time at his camp in the barrens when not out hunting. Raymond also loved to read. He used to get the newspaper every day to catch up on the latest news and do the crossword. Most of the time you would find him reading a book or listen to the radio. Raymond had a special bond with his granddaughter Lauren. He was more like a father figure to her. He enjoyed spending time with her and her children. Raymond loved to tell everyone about his great grandchildren. He had a lot of pride and joy in them.

He is survived by his sister Carol Yorke(John); brothers Bernie Hillier, Donnie Hillier, Ronnie Hillier, David Hillier, Howard Hillier; sisters- in-law; Shirley Hillier, Ann MacDonald, Darlene Bush; stepsons; Ron Fisher(Tracey), Austin Fisher; granddaughters; Lauren Hillier(John), Megan Currie(Seth), Diana Sims(Orion), Laurena Moore(Craig); grandsons Travis Snell, Ronnie Fisher, Andrew Fisher, JD Fisher, Kevin Fisher; his best friend and brother Fred MacLennan; Raymond also had 6 great grandchildren with one more on the way. With many more nieces, nephews, and family whom he loved dearly.

Raymond was predeceased by both parents Robert and Helen (MacDonald) Hillier; daughters Tammy Hillier, Brenda Webb; sisters; Shirley Hillier, June Roux, Letitia Hillier Quail; brothers John, James, William, Kenneth, Harry, Thomas, and Richard; along with other aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

The family would like to thank the great nurses from the VON for helping take care of Raymond over the past couple years and also the Nurses at the palliative care unit at the Aberdeen hospital, who took such good care of him.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 1pm to 2pm Saturday November 11, 2023 at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a memorial service will be held at 2pm with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson presiding.
