Melvin Murdock Leon MacLean: 1953-2023
Leon MacLean, 69, of New Glasgow, NS passed away on October 26, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of Elizabeth “Betty” (Moser) MacLean and the late Donald John MacLean.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Clare, his two children, Jonathan (Susan) and Taylor (Christina), grandchildren; Kage, Chase, Ryan, Mackenzie, Danika and his favorite, Duke (the cat). He is also survived by his Mother Betty, brother Philip (Sherry) and sister Mary (Doug) as well as many, much loved, nieces and nephew.
He was predeceased by his father D.J., sister Charlene.
Leon was a dedicated and well-respected 40-year employee of S. W. Weeks Construction Limited. His knowledge and skills are still being passed on to the younger generation as well as the stories of his early day shenanigans with co-worker Benny Druhan. Leon was so proud that both his boys and his oldest grandson were following in his footsteps.
In the winter months when the construction season was shut down, Clare and Leon would head south to lie on the beach and soak up the sun. There was always an open invitation and a Pina Cola for anyone wanting to visit. Once construction season started Leon would be back in New Glasgow ready to go. Any free time Leon did have, he spent either in Inverness or at the camp, creating lasting memories with family and friends.
