Obituary of Gordon George Campbell
Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Campbell, Gordon George-It is with heavy hearts, we are announcing the passing on October 25th of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, following a brief illness.
Born in Sydney, NS on January 2, 1955 he was a son of the late Ernest and Velzora (Tiny) Campbell of Burton / Oromocto, NB.
Anyone who has met or had a brief encounter with Gord will agree he had a flair for life in general and a passion for meeting new people - he was never a stranger for long and soon a friend for life. He was always willing to join in a party, throw a few horseshoes, go on a fishing trip with his buds, or help a neighbour in need. He loved being the life of the party at all family gatherings! When you saw that big smile you knew there was a story or joke to follow.
Gord's motto was "Have toothbrush, will travel!" and he enjoyed seeing and learning about all parts of Canada and the world, from Europe to South America to the South Pacific.
A mason by trade but moved on to building tires, working at Michelin Canada in Granton for close to 30 years. Upon retirement he enjoyed more travel, a few years in Osoyoos, BC and a recent return home to NS.
Gord is survived by his wife, Carol of 37 years, residing in Woodburn, NS, two sons, Adam (Kyla Hastings) of Alberta, Bryan (Chauntelle Brewer) of Greenhill, NS and grandson, Eli Pitts-Campbell of Pictou, NS; siblings, John (Janice) of Blind River, ON; Stanley (Laurie) of Nasonworth, NB; Tammy (Bruce) Parks of Gagetown, NB; and Bonnie (John) Potter of Bedford, NS as well as his brother-in-law, Aubrey Rhys of Osoyoos, BC. In addition to his Uncle Gord (Aunt Monica) Wambolt of Sydney there are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister, Linda, parents-in-law, Tony and Audrey Rhys, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Sheila Rhys, and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Rhys.
Gord's family wishes to thank the medical team at the Aberdeen Hospital for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday November 4, 2023 at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow, NS. A private family burial will take place.
No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
